ET

ET, just as the rest of Spielberg’s movies starts out with darkness and music. Also, just like in Jaws and Close encounters, the action, something weird, happens right at the beginning. In Jaws, the girl gets eaten, in the Close Encounters we see a ship and in ET we see a space ship and even aliens. Family in ET is also not functional, just like in the other Spielberg’s films. The mother is this goofy woman running around in her nightgown in from of kids and soon we realize that the father of the house run away to Mexico with his lover.

In one of the scenes, ET is watching the TV and I believe that Spielberg foreshadowed the rest of the movie in it. It is a cartoon where a cat burns himself by accident. He gets hurt and then an airplane shows up. Later in the movie ET, just like the cat, gets hurt (sick) and then at the end he flies home.
